During the ceremony, the floor was taken by the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivode, Artur Chojecki, who emphasised in his speech the importance of creating new scientific centres to educate young scientists at a world-class level.
– Nicolaus Copernicus spent around 40 years of his most creative and scientifically fruitful life in our region. Here, while administering the Warmia Chapter estate in the Olsztyn castle, he also dealt with medical matters, and I think this is one of the reasons why the College of Medical Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University is based here,” Chojecki pointed out.
– However, I am convinced that it is also a matter of recognising the potential that lies within the scientific community of our city and region. I am convinced that this is where the research and scientific impulse for Poland, Europe and the world will come from, as the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the Copernicus Academy are to combine the best of Polish science, but also the best of doctors who come from Poland and work around the world,” added the politician.
As the provincial governor further emphasised, a medical congress with the participation of doctors and scientists has already been held in Olsztyn this year. – I am convinced that this will also result in excellent results in the scientific work of the doctoral college here in Olsztyn,” he explained.
The ceremony was also attended, among others, by the Director of the Copernicus Academy Office – Witold Mazurek, PhD, the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University – Piotr Turek, PhD, the Acting Dean of the College of Medical Sciences at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Olsztyn – Professor Andrzej Rynkiewicz, PhD, and MP Mirosława Stachowiak-Różecka.
