The World Copernican Congress is the main scientific event organized by the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy every five years. It serves as a meeting place for representatives of the scientific community, a platform for exchanging information and best practices, and an opportunity to learn about the latest research findings in the fields of astronomy, economics, and medicine.
According to its mission, the World Copernican Congress is to be held in locations connected with the life or work of Nicolaus Copernicus. The first such Congress took place in Toruń in February 2023 to commemorate the 550th anniversary of the birth of the patron in that very city. Among the 100 speakers, the congress hosted five Nobel Prize laureates in astronomy and astrophysics.
The next World Copernican Congress is scheduled for 2028.
