On 16 November 2023, representatives of the Copernican Academy – Prof. Krzysztof Górski, Secretary General of the Academy, Prof. Witold Mazurek, Director of the Office of the Copernican Academy, Prof. Mirosław Lenart, Dean of the College of Philosophy and Theology of the Copernican Academy and Prof. Andrzej Rynkiewicz, President of the Chamber of Medical Sciences of the Copernican Academy, acting Dean of the College of Medical Sciences of the Copernican Academy – met with Fr. Wojciech Perylak OMFConv, Polish penitentiary at the Papal Basilica of St Anthony in Padua, to whom they handed over the boards of the exhibition entitled Niccolo Copernico. Pellegrinagio verso le stelle (Nicolaus Copernicus. Pilgrimage to the stars). The Basilica is the largest church in the city, under the direct jurisdiction of the Holy See. In 1592, Polish students at the University of Padua organised themselves into an independent organisation called the Polish Nation. It was then resolved that a Polish chapel with a crypt should be built in the basilica.
Around 3 million pilgrims visit the basilica each year.
