On February 11, 2025, a delegation from the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy visited the Cultural Center in Šalčininkai, Lithuania. https://salcininkaikultura.lt/pl/kontakt/

The ceremonial handover of the exhibition “Nicolaus Copernicus: A Pilgrimage to the Stars” was attended on behalf of the Academy by Prof. Witold Mazurek – Director of the Academy’s Office, and Dr. Tomasz Rzymkowski – Director of the Nicolaus Copernicus Research Center. The hosts were represented by Gražina Zabarauskaitė – Director of the Center, as well as Zdzisław Palewicz – Mayor of the Šalčininkai District, accompanied by his deputy – Waldemar Ślizewski. The hall where the meeting took place was filled with students from local schools.

Prof. Mazurek introduced the audience to the history and activities of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy, while Dr. Rzymkowski delivered a lecture on the life and work of Nicolaus Copernicus. The Lithuanian representatives acquainted the guests with the history of the Šalčininkai District, where over 80% of the population is of Polish descent.
