During the meeting, the General Assembly elected the first Ambassadors of the Copernican Academy, who are dedicated to promoting Polish science and culture abroad.
On 21 June, during the General Assembly, the members of the Academy conferred the title of Ambassador of the Copernican Academy on nine people. Among those honoured with this title were persons of particular merit to Polish science and with achievements in promoting Polish science and culture abroad, knowledge of Polish history and national heritage in the world.
The new AK ambassadors are Marek P. Szpak, Marek Chodakiewicz, Iwona Grzegorczyk, Markus Brunnermeier, Piotr Styś, Arthur McDonald, David Marsh, Oldrich Hajek and Mikołaj Winnicki.
Ambassadors of the Copernicus Academy
In accordance with Act on the Academy of Copernicusthe task of the Academy Ambassadors is to promote Polish science and culture abroad, knowledge of Polish history and national heritage around the world, and to promote cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science, social and economic life.
Candidates for the title of Ambassador of the Copernicus Academy may be proposed by the President of the Republic of Poland, the Minister of Education, the Minister responsible for foreign affairs, the President of each of the Academy Chambers, the Rector of Nicolaus Copernicus University or the Director of the AK Research Centre.
