On June 12th–13th, the Marie Curie–Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin hosted a jubilee conference of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America (PIASA) organized in cooperation with the Institute of Social Communication and Media Studies and the Institute of Central Europe.
The event took place under the patronage of:
The Minister of Science and Higher Education – Marcin Kulasek,
Rector of the UMCS – Radosław Dobrowolski,
Mayor of the City of Lublin – Krzysztof Żuk,
The Committee of Social Communication and Media Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The 10th World Congress of PIASA titled “Crossroads of Cultures” was a prestigious academic event. Over 150 academics from Polish and international institutions took part in 42 discussion panels, which facilitated the exchange of the latest research achievements and experiences.
The most momentous portion of the congress was the honouring and awarding of Polish academics who – through their achievements – build bridges connecting the world of academia, art, and the international community.
PIASA recognized laureates in nine categories. Among them – receiving the Casimir Funk Natural Sciences Award – was Secretary General of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy Prof. Krzysztof M. Górski.
