On Friday, March 21, 2025, representatives of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy visited Radio Niepokalanów. The purpose of the visit was to present the exhibition “Nicolaus Copernicus – Pilgrimage to the Stars” to the Director of the station, Fr. Grzegorz Klimczyk, which was carried out on behalf of the Academy by the Head of Administration, Mr. Paweł Derecki.
The ongoing cooperation between the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy and Radio Niepokalanów has resulted in a series of 12 radio broadcasts dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus. These programs, inspired by the aforementioned exhibition, feature interviews with members of the Academy and are aired every Thursday at 9:15 AM on the station. The broadcasts also serve as a commemoration of the 552nd anniversary of the birth of the eminent astronomer and can be listened to on our website.
The meeting aimed to deepen the relationship between the two institutions. Discussions focused on Copernicus’ legacy, his impact on the development of science, and opportunities for further strengthening cooperation. Participants discussed potential joint initiatives, such as scientific conferences and educational events, which could contribute to the popularization of knowledge about Copernicus.
It is worth noting that one of the members of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy is a Franciscan: Fr. Prof. Marcin Tkaczyk. This further strengthens the ties between science and spirituality and opens up space for further fruitful cooperation in the fields of education and culture.
The exhibition “Nicolaus Copernicus – Pilgrimage to the Stars” and the discussions with Academy representatives regarding Copernicus’ life and work are not only an expression of commemorating his birth anniversary but also initiate important conversations about future actions aimed at spreading knowledge about Copernicus and his contribution to the development of modern science. The presented exhibition will facilitate such discussions at Catholic universities, starting with UKSW (Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University) and the Higher Seminary of the Franciscan Fathers.
The visit to Radio Niepokalanów was an important step toward further developing the cooperation between the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy and this esteemed media outlet.
