On Friday, March 21, 2025, representatives of Nicolaus Copernicus Academy visited Radio Niepokalanów. The purpose of the visit was to present the exhibition “Nicolaus Copernicus – a pilgrimage to the stars” to the station’s director, Fr. Grzegorz Klimczyk. The exhibition was officially handed over on behalf of the Academy by Mr. Paweł Derecki, Head of Administration.
As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy and Radio Niepokalanów, a series of 12 radio programs dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus has been produced. Inspired by the exhibition, these programs feature conversations with Academy members and are broadcast every Thursday at 9:15 AM on the station. The series also serves as a tribute to the 552nd anniversary of the renowned astronomer’s birth and can be accessed on our website.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the relationship between two institutions. Discussions focused on Copernicus’ legacy, his influence on scientific progress, and opportunities for further collaboration. Participants explored potential joint initiatives, such as scientific conferences and educational events, to promote knowledge about Copernicus.
Notably, one of the members of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy is a Franciscan friar, Fr. prof. dr hab. Marcin Tkaczyk. His involvement further strengthens the connection between science and spirituality, creating opportunities for fruitful cooperation in education and culture.
The “Nicolaus Copernicus – a pilgrimage to the stars” exhibition, along with discussions with Academy representatives about Copernicus’ life and contributions, not only commemorates his birth anniversary but also sparks important conversations about future efforts to spread awareness of his impact on modern science. The exhibition will serve as a platform for such discussions at Catholic universities, starting with the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) and the Higher Seminary of the Franciscan Fathers.
The visit to Radio Niepokalanów marked an important step in further developing the cooperation between Nicolaus Copernicus Academy and this esteemed media center.
