Today marks the beginning of Poland’s 69th Astronomical Olympiad – one of the most important events for young astronomy enthusiasts across Poland. The contest will last until Sunday, 15th of March, when the Final Gala will be celebrated. The event is organized in partnership with the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy. We wish good luck to all the contestants!
The final event at the Planetarium will begin at 12:00 noon. Beside the award ceremony, the schedule also includes a lecture by Doctor Przemysław Mróz of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw, titled “Rogue Planets – How to View the Invisible”, which is discusses the search for planets traveling lonesomely across the Milky Way.
The meeting will culminate with a special showing of “Out there – The Quest for Extrasolar Worlds”, which has been prepared exclusively for the Olympiad’s finals.
