Did you know that “the one who stopped the Sun and moved the Earth” worked mainly in finance and administration?
If you want to get to know this lesser-known side of Nicolaus Copernicus, we cordially invite you to a debate on the Nauka to lubię channel. There you will find dr. Tomasz Rożek talking with the Members of the Chamber of Economics and Management of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy, dr. Mariusz Andrzejewski and prof. Dariusz Tworzydło.
They discuss the way in which the Copernicus–Gresham law affects our modern lives, including the wallet of the average Pole, global markets, and cryptocurrencies. (The law is concerned with the supplanting of high-grade currency by money of lesser quality.)
During the talk, you’ll encounter many thought-provoking subjects: from ethics in country management to the influence of artificial intelligence on our financial security.
These are some of the questions you’ll hear:
- Is the modern Polish złoty “good” or “bad” money? When do the decisions of politicians begin to endanger our savings?
- Cryptocurrencies and Copernicus – what would the astronomer have to say about Bitcoin? Are the economic rules of old also applicable in the world of cryptocurrency?
- Bad money or bad information – what is the bigger enemy of today? Can the lack of reliable knowledge cost us more than does inflation?
What do you think? Is Copernicus’s argument for hard, stable money still valid in the digital age, or does technology now allow us to circumvent the old rules of economics?
We invite you into the discussion!
