Marking the 553rd anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus, the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy, in collaboration with the Nauka. To Lubię Foundation, has prepared a series of discussions devoted to two fields particularly linked to Copernicus’s legacy – economics and astronomy.
As part of the new initiative, viewers have had the opportunity to watch its March instalment – a debate on economics. Coming up next is a debate on astronomy, which will soon be available for viewing on the channels of Nauka. To Lubię.
The discussion will feature:
Prof. Krzysztof M. Górski – renowned cosmologist and co-developer of tools for analysing cosmological data,
Prof. Marek Sarna – physicist and long-standing president of the Polish Astronomical Society
Prof. Leszek Roszkowski – theoretical physicist, expert on dark matter, director of the new International Institute for Particle Astrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (the Astrocent Institute),
Prof. Wacław Gudowski – expert in reactor physics from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
Together with the host, Dr. Tomasz Rożek, the participants, in the spirit of Copernican boldness of thought, will discuss, among other things:
• the possibility of building permanent bases on the Moon and the role of nuclear energy,
• the significance of artificial intelligence for autonomous space systems,
• as well as more “down-to-earth” issues related to the funding of science and major research projects.
It will be interesting; it will be scientific.
We invite you to follow our updates.
