Czarnek: The late Prof. Lech Kaczyński – a politician with vision
– We remember the late President Lech Kaczyński as an outstanding statesman, a man with a great vision for Poland, a strong Poland as a leader. A man who pursued this vision with great determination and extraordinary courage. We remember him as an outstanding President of the Republic of Poland, as an outstanding Mayor of the City of Warsaw. We remember him as an anti-communist oppositionist and ‘Solidarity’ lawyer. Today, we want to remember President Lech Kaczyński as a scientist, as a man of science, as a lawyer, as a specialist in labour law,’ Minister Przemysław Czarnek said, pointing to Lech Kaczyński’s scientific and academic activity.
– We do not have the slightest doubt that this entire legacy that the late President Lech Kaczyński left behind, and this entire testament that we are obliged to realise, is the result of his innate talents. But we also do not have the slightest doubt that this legacy is immense and all his achievements were also possible thanks to his thorough legal education, thanks to his scientific career, his scientific achievements,’ Minister Przemysław Czarnek said.
– This is why we decided that the hall where scientific bodies, various advisory groups, the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland and all other bodies related to Polish science meet, should be named after Professor Lech Kaczyński,’ the head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education noted.
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science pointed out that Professor Lech Kaczyński was an associate professor at two universities: University of Gdańsk and Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University, as well as an honorary doctorate from six universities, including five foreign ones.

Kaczyński: He was simply a good man
In turn, the late president’s brother and Law and Justice (PiS) Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński noted that the argument for honouring Lech Kaczyński at the Ministry of Education and Science was his involvement in historical policy, the policy of remembrance. – Everything that rebuilt the community, or at least strengthened it, is also a sphere that is dealt with by this ministry,’ the Law and Justice president said. At the same time, he recalled that the practical dimension of Lech Kaczyński’s activity in this area was, among other things, the construction of the Warsaw Rising Museum.
“He was simply a good man,” emphasised the brother of the late President Lech Kaczyński. He mentioned how important it was for him to help many Solidarity people. “When someone asked – he simply helped,” Jarosław Kaczyński said.
