May 18, 2023

On 17 May 2023, a representative of the Copernicus Academy, Prof. Grzegorz Górski, met in Rome with the Vice-President of the Senate of the Italian Republic, Gian Mark Centinaio. Prof. Górski’s visit to Italy is aimed at promoting Polish science and culture abroad, knowledge of Polish history and national heritage, as well as promoting cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science, social and economic life.

During the press conference held after the meeting, details of upcoming events were presented. One of the highlights is expected to be the seminar “Human rights or anti-human rights?” planned for this November in Padua, where participants will discuss ethics and legal issues.

Ethics and law in focus

Vice President Centinaio shared at the conference his joy at participating in such an important event and expressed his hope that the meeting would contribute to further rapprochement between Poland and Italy.

Professor Grzegorz Górski thanked the Academy for making the Nassirya Hall of the Senate available for the press conference. He stressed that the Copernicus Academy is honoured to have the opportunity to collaborate with eminent Italian scholars and scientific institutions. He pointed out that the seminar in Padua would be an excellent opportunity to analyse the ethical and legal issues affecting our society and to reflect on the issue of human rights and the challenges of protecting them.

The professor also stated that he was extremely grateful to Senator Centinaio for his openness and support in organising these events. As he added, the cooperation between the Copernican Academy and the Senate of the Italian Republic will strengthen the ties between the two societies and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience between the two countries.

Cooperation agreements

The meeting and conference held in the halls of the upper house of the Italian Parliament was also attended by Lazio Regional Councillor for Culture Simona Bardassarre and the President of the Senate Committee on Culture Roberto Marti. The signing of separate cooperation agreements in the fields of science, education and culture was announced.

At the end of the press conference, Professor Grzegorz Górski once again invited all those interested to attend the seminar in Padua and to follow future events organised by the Copernican Academy in Italy.

The conferences, seminars and roundtables planned by the Copernican Academy in Italy are part of a global initiative to create a platform for the exchange of ideas, broaden scientific horizons, promote intercultural dialogue and foster social development on an international scale.
