Strengthening cooperation between the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy and Radio Niepokalanów

February 27, 2025

On February 25, 2025 prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Górski, Secretary General of Nicolaus Copernicus Academy met Fr. Grzegorz Klimczyk, Director of Radio Niepokalanów. This was another step following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parties on February 19, 2025.

The meeting was part of an initiative aiming at producing a series of radio broadcasts dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus on the occasion of 552nd anniversary of his birth. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration. The discussion focused on the next stages of cooperation, possibilities for further promoting the activities of Nicolaus Copernicus Academy, and most importantly, exploring potential new initiatives.

The project began on February 20th and will continue until May 8th. It consists of discussions with academics from the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy about life, education, and achievements of the renowned scholar. The series, titled “Nicolaus Copernicus – a pilgrimage to the stars” offers a unique opportunity to popularize Copernicus’ legacy.

Fr. Grzegorz Klimczyk emphasized the significance of the project, drawing a parallel to Fr. Maximilian Maria Kolbe – a man inspired by modern media and science. He emphasized:

I am excited about this project we are a part of. I view it through the lens of Father Maximilian, a truly remarkable man who was ahead of his time, moving forward much faster than his contemporaries. In the interwar period, he envisioned Catholic media, founded a publishing house that printed ‘The Knight of the Immaculata’ in a circulation of about one million copies, and – interestingly – dreamed of an airport in Niepokalanów. He even designed an ‘Etereoplane’ a space vehicle. Apparently some scientists believe this could actually be realized…

As a result of thase discussions on February 26, 2025 authorities of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy made decision to donate the Copernicus’ exhibition to Radio Niepokalanów, which will be displayed during their special events.

Be tuned in to the broadcasts on Radio Niepokalanów and stay updated on the latest initiatives of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy.
