On February 13, 2025, a meeting took place at Riga Technical University (RTU) between the leadership of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy and RTU representatives. The Academy was represented by Prof. Krzysztof M. Górski – Secretary General of the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy, and Dr. Tomasz Rzymkowski – Director of the Nicolaus Copernicus Research Center. The hosts included Prof. Tālis Juhna – Rector of RTU, Laura Štāle – Head of RTU’s International Partnership Office, Ilze Ella Negribe, and Dr. Aleksejs Klokovs – Director of the RTU Institute of Aeronautics, Space Engineering, and Transport.

The meeting began with a lecture by Prof. Górski, presented to RTU students, on Copernicus’ Universe and the Universe Today. Prof. Górski focused on the relevance of the great astronomer’s legacy in cosmology, particularly in light of the significant scientific advancements of the 20th century.

This was followed by the official opening of the exhibition “Nicolaus Copernicus: A Pilgrimage to the Stars,” which was donated to RTU by the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy. After the ceremony, representatives from both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on scientific development and knowledge transfer.
